Bachelor of Medicine – Medical Doctor and Surgeon

Based on the country’s socioeconomic reality and existing health issues, the physician trained at UPAL must be capable of understanding the various situations related to the health–illness process. They must recognize that healthcare is not only about solving problems, but also about contributing to the development of social transformation processes that build values and actions that promote and protect health and life.

The Medicine program at UPAL trains professionals of integrity, with social sensitivity and competence in clinical, surgical, and community care, with the goal of preventing, treating, and rehabilitating patient health. They are committed to social and scientific research within the community.

A Medical Doctor from UPAL can work in:

  • Patient care in public or private healthcare institutions
  • Patient care within health insurance systems
  • Leadership roles in health programs
  • Medical emergencies and/or urgent care in public and private healthcare facilities
  • Prevention campaigns and management of epidemics and pandemics
  • Development and management of national and international health programs
  • Serve as an authority in charge of health programs.

Student Requirements

NATIONAL STUDENTS
Copy of high school diploma, legalized by the issuing University or SEDUCA.
Original Birth Certificate.
Copy of Identity Card.
Two 3×3 cm photos with a beige or light background.

FOREIGN STUDENTS
1. Copy of high school diploma or equivalent document that allows access to higher education, legalized by:
Option 1
Apostille procedure (DS. 3541 of April 25, 2018) in the country of origin.
Option 2
Ministry of Education of the country of origin
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin
Bolivian Consulate in the country of origin
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bolivia (Chancellery)
(both options are valid)

Photocopy of high school diploma or equivalent, legalized by:

Graduation Modalities

Graduation Exam
It consists of an evaluation through oral or written exams to measure the effectiveness of the professional training process, assessing knowledge, comprehension, analysis, and the application of theories and procedures to situations within a specific discipline. The number of exams will be determined based on the number of areas or disciplines within the professional field.
